Pulmuone’s Sustainable Raw Material Procurement Program

 

Pulmuone is implementing the mutual growth management to pursue a better life and consider the future with the society. We intend to fulfill our social responsibility to foster a sustainable industrial ecosystem in terms of running a business.

 

■Purpose

Pulmuone is making our best efforts to adhere to all relevant laws and regulations, respect and treat workers, ensure a safe work environment, and carry out business ethically. We are operating the “Sustainable Raw Material Procurement Program” to make sure that raw material farms and their contractors included in Pulmuone supply chains to fulfil their social, environmental, and ethical responsibility and support them.

 

■Scope of Application

This policy falls on Pulmuone and the affiliates including domestic and foreign subsidiaries and encourages participation of all farms and second-tier supplying raw materials to Pulmuone. Pulmuone expects all farms to cooperate with us to implement and observe the principles of this policy and farm management program faithfully.

 

■Operational Program

 

1. Support for minimizing environmental impact and reducing greenhouse gas

We encourage farms to minimize the environmental impact of raw material farming and cultivation and provide assistance to cut down greenhouse gas based on energy usage reduction.

 

 

2. Efficient water utilization

We expand the water use reduction technology and financing, thereby contributing to foster an environment that enables all farms to use the water efficiently.

 

3. Biodiversity Management

We actively provide assistance to share biodiversity-related information with farms growing raw material and procure certified raw material that ensures sustainable production, thereby allowing farms to understand how supply chains of Pulmuone can affect biodiversity and manage them.

 

 

4. Protection of soil health

We conduct cultivation guidance including soil management on a regular basis to cultivate and grow high-quality clean raw materials.

 

 

5. The rest

-. Secure sustainability of raw material cultivation by providing guidelines to come up with the foundation for sustainable raw material procurement. 
-. Make efforts to make sure that all farmers producing raw materials are respected and that any acts regarding human rights violations do not occur.
-. Pursue mutual growth to make sure that farms procuring raw materials can produce the high-quality raw material by maintaining a sound cooperative relation with farms.

 

 

■The Current Status of Sustainable Raw Material Certification (As of 2022)

When purchasing raw material in practice, we check whether raw material has a sustainable certification. Sustainable certification refers to the granted certification regarding environmental impacts and safety of raw material based on relevant laws and global standards from domestic and foreign governments and a third-party certification institution and Pulmuone requires raw material producers to give certification from contracts to purchase. We will expand the certification and its proportion to realize the sustainability through our products.
