Human Rights Management

■Identify Risks and Establish Strategies

Pulmuone is committed to creating an environment where all employees, suppliers, customers, local communities, and other stakeholders affected by its business operation are respected as individuals and are not subjected to inhumane treatment. All issues included in the Principles of Pulmuone Respect for Human Rights Declaration are covered by our risk identification process. Pulmuone conducts a company-wide due diligence process regarding potential/actual issues, workplaces of corporate activities, value chain-specific policies or projects, etc. We consider relevant stakeholders such as own employees, women, children, partner companies, customers, local communities and who start and maintain business with Pulmuone, including companies subject to mergers and acquisitions. Pulmuone conducts due diligence at least once every year to identify potential/actual impacts and risks and vulnerable groups, and to prevent and mitigate factors that may adversely affect implementing Respect for Human Rights Management principles. Pulmuone conducts systematic periodic review of the risk mapping of potential issues and support the establishment of a people-respecting management culture through periodic implementation checks of human rights due diligence improvement activities.

■Human Rights Assessment & Risk Mitigation Process

In order to identify vulnerable groups and potential/actual human rights issues and prevent/mitigate factors that adversely affect human rights management, Pulmuone conducts human rights impact assessments at least once a year. Through a checklist optimized for our business, we identify human rights violations and derive improvement tasks to mitigate human rights risks. In March 2022, we participated in the 'Pilot Project for Human Rights Management in Private Enterprises' organized by the National Human Rights Commission and took the lead in conducting human rights due diligence. The Human Rights Impact Assessment was conducted to identify possible human rights violations in the entire supply chain, from manufacturing and production to sales and distribution of Pulmuone’s 'Tofu' products. The Human Rights Impact Assessment was conducted in a way that advisors from the National Human Rights Commission evaluated and suggested improvement tasks after Pulmuone's self-diagnosis. Through the Human Rights Impact Assessment, we checked the company's commitment to the human rights of key stakeholders, evaluated the negative/positive impacts, and derived improvement tasks. Including a pilot project with the National Human Rights Commission, we conducted human rights impact assessments at two worksites in 2022, and plan to conduct due diligence at three or more worksites in 2023. In the long term, we aim to establish a five-year company-wide due diligence plan and gradually expand the scope of due diligence through risk categorization by business.

[Grievance Counseling and Reporting Procedures]

We are constantly monitoring issues related to human rights violations through online and offline official remedy channels, and promptly proceed with remedy procedures when issues are identified. Human Rights Remediation process is based on the principle of 100% completion, and depending on the results of the investigation. Type of remediation action is change of workplace, reassignment, and paid leave orders are implemented in consideration of the victim's request (TISO Policy Article 90). A total number of 27 human rights related complaints(sexual/non-sexual harassment, discrimination) were reported, 16 of which were confirmed as valid breaches. The remediation actions(change of workplace, reassignment, etc.) and disciplinary measures were taken. To prevent recurrence, the cases were processed into communication contents and shared with employees through training materials, newsletters, and in-house programs.
