Human Rights Due Diligence

1. Scope of Application

Pulmuone is committed to creating an environment where all employees, suppliers, customers, local communities, and other stakeholders affected by its business operation are respected as individuals and are not subjected to inhumane treatment.

All issues included in the Basic Principles of Human Rights Management are reviewed through our human rights due diligence process. By conducting a company-wide due diligence process, we aim to identify the areas of potential risks and human rights violations. This due diligence covers stakeholders that may be affected by our business operations, including our business sites (and employees working at such sites), companies to be acquired or merged, potential and existing suppliers, customers, local communities, and shareholders.  In addition, we also work to strengthen our risk assessment process for new entrants, women, children, foreign workers, 3rd-party employees, local community inhabitants, people with disabilities, and the elderly who are vulnerable to human rights violations.

2. Human Rights Assessment & Risk Mitigation Process

IWhen implementing the principles of human rights management, we conduct human rights impact assessments at least once a year to prevent and mitigate risks of human rights violations and protect vulnerable groups. Based on the checklist specified for our business operations, we identify areas of potential violations, derive issues of improvement, and prevent or mitigate risks.

In March 2022, we joined the "Private Company’s Human Rights Management Pilot Program" organized by the National Human Rights Commission and conducted a human rights impact assessment of the entire value chain to identify the areas of human rights violations for tofu products, from the manufacturing and production to sales and retail process. In 2023, we analyzed human rights issues and their significance and then carried out human rights impact assessments at 2 of our business sites, Eumseong Fresh Noodle Plant and Doan Green Juice Plant. We reviewed our progress in human rights protection, identified the negative impacts, and set action plans to address risks. Furthermore, we have also established a 5-year company-wide due diligence plan with the long-term goal of categorizing risks by business area and incrementally expanding the scope of application.

3. Key Mitigation Plans and Implementation in 2023

According to the human rights impact assessment conducted in 2023, we need to establish action plans for improving human rights due diligence process by "identifying cases of human rights violations and
implementing measures" and for refining the human rights impact assessment checklist, "developing the grievance procedures and due diligence process, updating the human rights policy in supply chain, and
establishing a due diligence process in supply chain.” Meanwhile, the plan for improving site operations included "paying special attention to the management of contractors, and recognizing and complying with the holding company's anti-discrimination policy.” These action plans are expected to be reflected in the process of preventing and mitigating human rights risks, and building a management system through the Pulmuone's 2024 Human Rights Management Project.
