Environmental Awareness Enhancement for Employees

Management System 2025-08-22

Pulmuone recognizes the environmental impact of its business activities and conducts environmental education and campaigns for internal and external stakeholders to generate various ideas that can minimize these impacts.

Company-wide Employee Environmental Education

Pulmuone and its affiliates continuously conduct employee environmental education for effective environmental management. For waste-related training, specialized technical education was provided across three categories: waste discharge, medical waste discharge, and hazardous chemical substance (ammonia) handling. Each business site conducts mandatory training on key environmental management areas in accordance with the Water Environment Conservation Act, Waste Management Act, Noise and Vibration Control Act, and Clean Air Conservation Act. Additionally, environmental education was conducted at "Pulmuone Academy," a training facility for Pulmuone employees and partner company staff, covering topics such as the environmental impact of plastic pollution, practical methods for reducing plastic use in daily life, and hands-on EM soap making (eco-friendly soap made using effective microorganisms) to strengthen environmental habits. A total of 280 participants joined these programs, raising awareness of sustainable living and laying the foundation for long-term action.

In 2024, a total of 84 hours of specialized environmental technical training and 420 hours of Pulmuone Academy training were conducted.

Energy Conservation Awareness Enhancement

Pulmuone Waters Co., Ltd.'s mobile plant and PPEC Chuncheon posted energy conservation posters and shared strategies for efficient energy use to raise awareness of energy reduction. Activities such as newsletter distribution and poster campaigns were implemented to promote energy-saving practices in workplace settings, including office air conditioning temperature settings, management of unnecessary energy use (ON/OFF), and measures to address unnecessary consumption during lunch breaks and after hours when production lines are not operational. The mobile plant establishes an annual "Energy Reduction Task Force Team (TFT)" to focus on energy reduction activities, while the Chuncheon plant supports active employee participation in energy conservation by providing incentives for team members who actively practice these measures.

Employee Engagement Activities Related to Water Resources

Pulmuone conducts various water-related campaigns targeting employees to identify opportunities for improving water efficiency through water use assessments. The company has implemented company-wide efficiency enhancement campaigns by identifying areas within business sites where water efficiency can be improved, such as factory/facility entrances with high industrial water usage and restrooms with high domestic water consumption, and posting awareness materials such as posters.

Additionally, Pulmuone Eumseong Tofu Plant implemented the "Water Scrooge Challenge" event to reduce internal water consumption and foster water conservation awareness among employees. The "Water Scrooge Challenge" was a month-long event in April where employees filmed instances of water waste within the plant and areas requiring safety improvements or water-related enhancements, then developed improvement measures. The effectiveness of the established improvement measures was also evaluated to confirm reduction benefits.

Outstanding videos and reduction improvement plans were rewarded with mobile coupons, and additional prizes were awarded through a lottery system for employees who submitted videos to encourage broader interest and engagement in water resource management. Through such events, many employees have developed greater interest in water waste issues within the plant. Moving forward, the company plans to focus more on internalizing environmental management among employees through various campaigns.
