Pulmuone's Nature Positive Activity

1. Reduce Organization of Biodiversity Studies

The "Pulmuone Biodiversity Study" has been organized to collect ecological information near our business sites and raise awareness of biodiversity by examining the impact of corporate activities on the ecosystem.

In 2022, we studied the Tancheon and Daemosan areas near our headquarters in Suseo and built a total of 335 databases consisting of 159 species, including 2 endangered species, 1 natural monument, 7 biological indicators of climate change, and 7 species that disturb the ecosystems.

In 2023, we studied Seongsangcheon and Mihocheon near Eumseong Fresh Noodle Plant and accumulated records on a total of 123 species, including 69 plant species, 23 species of benthic macroinvertebrates, 12 fish species, and 19 bird species (including the long-billed plover which is in Endangered Wildlife Class 2). The data collected will be utilized in managing business sites and planning collaboration with local communities in the future.

2. Reduce Reducing marine biodiversity impacts through the use of MSC/ASC certification

Pulmuone is committed to creating wholesome foods for the people and the planet. Based on our corporate spirit, “Love for Our Neighbors, Respect for Life,” we are developing wholesome foods, going beyond the standards for safe and trusted food to offer sustainable food that is good for our bodies and the environment.

The goal is to to increase the use of certified (MSC/ASC, etc.) We are expanding our MSC/ASC certified products, including 'Noonil Seaweed'. MSC/ASC certification can only be earned by seafood ingredients that have passed rigorous audits on sustainable marine ecosystems. Pulmuone is minimizing its impact on the marine ecosystem by establishing an analysis and manual on endangered marine life that can be found near Buanan, Jeollabuk-do, where the original fish farm for 'Noulhae Shim' is located.

3. Regenerate Implementation of Odaecheon Endangered Wildlife Breeding/Restoration Project

Pulmuone launched a project to breed and restore endangered species (Manchurian trout) near the Chuncheon Tofu Plant. Starting with the restoration of Manchurian trout in Odaesan Gaejanigol in 2013, we have continued to further expand the restoration project. As part of our commitment to protecting our local ecosystem as an eco-friendly company, we signed an MOU in 2023 to participate in the protection of endangered species through the "Odaecheon (Bangadari Valley) Manchurian Trout Restoration Project" in Pyeongchang, Gangwondo.

We are actively researching the food density and habitat of the aforementioned species, breeding and releasing juvenile fish in the habitat, and removing beams in the stream to secure their migration route. Furthermore, we aim to restore the natural habitat of the Manchurian trout by contributing to the restoration of the aquatic
ecology of abandoned mines through various activities such as expanding tree shades to lower the temperature or creating ponds that are appropriate to their habitats.

4. Restore Creation and management of Pulmuone Peace Forest

In 2021, we created the "Pulmuone Peace Forest" in cooperatoin with the Peace Forest Work and are continuously promoting tree planting and removal of ecologically harmful species. Pulmuone Peace Forest, which is planted with about 1,320 trees (consisted of indigenous tree species, representative tree species, and tree species that can assist the conservation of bee populatoin), is regularly managed by Pulmuone's executives, employess and local stakeholders for the continued restoration of the ecosystem.

5. Transform Continued Forestry Activities in Cooperation with the Central Regional Forest Service

Pulmuone Academy has been steadily promoting forest creation activities every year since signing the "People’s Forest" MOU with the Korea Forest Service in 2013. Since the first People’s Forest was first created and managed in 2013 in a 14-hectare national forest located on the mountain behind Pulmuone Academy, succeeding People's Forests has been created four times in 2015, 2016, and 2024.

Pulmuone Academy not only manages the People's Forest, where anyone can participate in planting trees and taking care of the forest, but also takes the lead in forest management and changing the public's perception by introducing a forest healing program and appointing forest trail experience instructors.

5. Reduce & Transform Pulmuone’s Business Paradigm Change to Sustainable Food Culture

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, greenhouse gases generated from the livestock sector account for approximately 14.5% of all greenhouse gases on the planet, and 65% of these emissions are methane emitted during cow digestion. The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL) already announced in 2008 that 80% of pastures could be restored to forests and grasslands if all people around the world adopted a vegetarian diet. Of course, it is impossible for all of humanity to become vegetarian, but if we increase our plant-based diet to the amount recommended by the World Health Organization, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the food sector by nearly 30%.

On such backdrop, Pulmuone is changing the business paradigm to become nature positive. By promoting the "Jigusikdan", our sustainable food brand, we are spreading the word about the positive impact of plant-based diets on society and the environment as well as experiential opportunities. By promoting various kinds of pop-up booths and campaigns online and offline, we are spreading the word about the positive aspects of plant-based meals to people, launching a vegan restaurant 'Plantude', using media such as web entertainment "Gwang Butler" and SNS to inform external stakeholders. We are raising awareness of the importance of sustainable food.

Pulmuone's Jigusikdan is not just about diet for the environment. We are challenging the overall sustainability of our business through various eco-friendly challenges that we can undertake in the process of providing products and services. "Jigusikdan Luncheon Meat" has obtained an environmental product label certification from the Ministry of Environment.

Pulmuone's goal is to achieve more than 65% of total food sales from sustainable diets by 2026. At the 2024 general shareholders' meeting, we revealed that "while wholesome food we have been defining in the past 40 years pertain to organic products, wholesome food in the future will be sustainable products", and shared with stakeholders our will to grow as a sustainable food company.

※ These efforts are integrated into our company-wide ESG risk management system, and Pulmuone plans to further enhance its natural capital

and biodiversity risk assessment and response activities in the future.
