Pulmuone’s Labor Practices Commitment
Pulmuone is committed to respecting labor rights and complying with applicable labor laws and practices across all regions where we operate.
This commitment applies to our own operations, as well as to contractors and partners within our supply chain. We aim to ensure that these standards are upheld not only for Pulmuone employees but also for workers in our supply chain.
To this end, we monitor and assess contractors and business partners for potential violations of labor laws through our codes of conduct and evaluation processes.
■ Avoiding Overtime and Setting Maximum Working Hours
In accordance with Articles 50 and 53 of the Korean Labor Standards Act, Pulmuone limits overtime and avoids excessive working hours by requiring prior approval from management for any overtime that exceeds 12 hours per week. We have defined a maximum working hours limit of 209 hours per month.
■ Equal Remuneration for Men and Women
Pulmuone ensures equal remuneration for men and women performing work of equal value, regardless of gender, nationality, or social status, in compliance with Article 6 of the Labor Standards Act and Article 8 of the Equal Employment Opportunity and Work-Family Balance Assistance Act. Base salaries are determined in line with market benchmarks, and performance-based adjustments consider job responsibilities, capabilities, and achievements. This pay system is applied fairly and without gender-based discrimination.
■ Paying a Living Wage
Pulmuone implements living wage assessments to ensure that workers can meet basic needs and maintain a dignified standard of living. This approach goes beyond minimum wage compliance by considering local living costs and the financial needs of employees and their dependents. Currently, the assessment applies to our own employees, with plans to expand it to key contractors in the future.
■ Paying Workers for Annual Leave
Pulmuone complies with Article 60 of the Korean Labor Standards Act by providing paid annual leave of 15 days per year to employees with at least one year of service and 80% attendance. An additional day is granted every two years, up to a maximum of 25 days. Leave is managed on a fiscal-year basis, and unused days are settled upon resignation. To further support employee well-being, Pulmuone also provides three additional “Comma Days” per year and designates company-wide leave around bridge holidays to encourage time off.
■ Setting Minimum Consultation or Notice Periods Before Mass Terminations
In line with Articles 23, 24, and 26 of the Korean Labor Standards Act, Pulmuone sets a minimum consultation or notice period of 30 days before any employment termination. In the case of mass terminations due to managerial reasons , stricter conditions such as demonstrating urgent managerial necessity and making efforts to avoid dismissal must be met. Unilateral termination without meeting these conditions is not considered legally valid under Korean law.
