Policy Communication for Climate Change Response

Pulmuone's Commitment to Public Policies on Climate Change, Aligned with the Paris Agreement

Pulmuone, in support of the Paris Climate Agreement and the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), has established a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2035 compared to 2022 levels under its “Eco-Caring Strategy.” The company aims to achieve net zero emissions and Nature-Positive status by 2050.

Consequently, by 2025, Pulmuone plans to revise its value system to not only reduce emissions across its enterprise-wide facilities but also contribute to addressing climate change through sustainable farming practices and business transitions. Additionally, the company is actively engaging in external activities such as membership in domestic associations and public policy participation. Pulmuone's climate change association activities and participation policies are uniformly applied to all regions where it operates, not just in South Korea.

Management System and Governance Framework for Lobbying Activities and Trade Association Memberships

Pulmuone operates an association management system in accordance with its company-wide Letter of Authorization (LOA) regulations. The decision to engage in association activities and initiatives is made by considering industry relevance, alignment with Pulmuone's mission, contribution to enhancing ESG capabilities within the company and industry, and support for achieving global goals such as the Paris Agreement and SDGs.

This decision-making process is transparently executed through drafting, review, and executive-level approval stages, as stipulated by regulation. Even after joining or supporting an initiative, Pulmuone continually evaluates the outcomes of association and initiative activities. The company regularly monitors whether membership, activities, and budget expenditures align with Pulmuone's LOA regulations, donation and sponsorship policies, and overall stakeholder interests.

Review and Monitoring Process to Assess Alignment of Public Policy Engagements with the Paris Agreement

Pulmuone continuously monitors whether its external activities align with its climate change response objectives. Each department responsible for association activities ensures compliance with Pulmuone's value system, environmental management policies, and internal guidelines such as the Human Rights Management Operating Regulations.

Framework for Addressing Misalignments Between Trade Associations’ Climate Policy Positions and Pulmuone’s Own Position

If the activities of an affiliated association do not align with Pulmuone's climate change mission, the responsible departments actively review and communicate the association’s public information to narrow any differences. If these differences cannot be resolved, Pulmuone’s management may decide to discontinue support for the association. As of the end of June 2025, no discrepancies have been identified between Pulmuone’s own activities or those of its affiliated associations and organizations that conflict with the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) or the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Pulmuone and Trade Associations’ Climate-Related Policy Communication

In response to the increasing instability in the supply of food ingredients due to climate change, Pulmuone is shifting its business paradigm through collaboration with the government and external stakeholders. In October 2024, Pulmuone received a commendation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in recognition of its efforts in developing, distributing, and commercializing new climate-resilient sprout bean varieties, in collaboration with the Rural Development Administration over several years. In 2025, Pulmuone joined the “Water Positive Alliance for Climate Change Response and Water Crisis Resolution,” initiated by the Ministry of Environment, and was selected as the final operator for a national research project focused on developing land-based seaweed aquaculture technologies.

Additionally, Pulmuone actively collaborates with various industry associations to undertake activities addressing climate change. Under the leadership of former CEO Lee Hyo-yul, the Korea Food Industry Association operated the “ESG Management Forum and Training for the Development of a Sustainable Food Industry” in 2024, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation. This initiative disseminated ESG management strategies and best practices within the food industry. Moreover, it published guidelines for companies to establish frameworks for environmental management, climate change response, human rights, and information disclosure.
