This policy goes beyond compliance with applicable environmental laws and requirements. It embodies our promise to create a sustainable future by engaging all stakeholders, including our company, partners, joint ventures, merger and acquisition targets, production and business facilities, and the communities we operate in.

 

■ Environmental Leadership by the Board of Directors

Pulmuone’s environmental policies, strategies, and action plans are driven under the leadership of the Board of Directors. We regularly assess environmental performance and risks and ensure that they are reviewed by the Board and transparently disclosed to stakeholders, ensuring trust. The Board provides the necessary resources and support to fulfill Pulmuone’s environmental responsibilities, enabling consistent execution of sustainable environmental management.

 

■ Policy Development, Implementation, and Management

Pulmuone identifies the potential environmental impacts across all business activities, including greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, waste, plastics, pollutants, chemicals, biodiversity, and sustainable procurement. We establish dedicated teams to develop strategies and goals and to monitor performance. Our employees are committed to identifying and implementing continuous environmental improvements, such as energy, water, and waste reduction, and recycling resources. Pulmuone provides training and support to ensure employees are equipped with the necessary skills. Additionally, we manage various communication channels to ensure internal and external stakeholders are clearly informed of all activities.

 

■ Compliance with Environmental Regulations

 

Pulmuone pledges not only to comply with environmental regulations but to voluntarily establish and adhere to more stringent environmental guidelines. We apply these rigorous standards across all business areas and actively recommend the same level of environmental management to our partners and business associates to protect the environment. Pulmuone deeply recognizes the importance of collaborating with stakeholders to address environmental challenges. However, we do not provide financial support to groups opposing climate regulations. ■ Greenhouse Gas Reduction

Pulmuone is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and RE100 by 2045. We develop and implement a roadmap to address climate change through various efforts, including improving energy efficiency, expanding the use of renewable energy, and participating in national eco-friendly R&D projects. In addition to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, we adopt innovative approaches across the supply chain to minimize emissions throughout the industrial ecosystem. We also support sustainable forest management and conservation efforts to prevent deforestation and carefully review the sourcing of raw materials to avoid involvement in illegal deforestation.

 

■ Plastic Management

Pulmuone recognizes the environmental impact of plastics generated during the production, logistics, distribution, and consumption processes. We transition packaging materials to those that are easier to recycle, enhancing a circular resource economy. Packaging is designed with consumer recycling convenience in mind, such as by expanding label-free product lines and reducing the use of paper, plastic, and other packaging materials.

Water is a life-sustaining resource, and clean water is critical for the food industry. Pulmuone strives to reduce water intake and consumption during production through efficient water management and by actively adopting cutting-edge technologies. We also ensure the availability of clean water in our communities through transparent management of water sources and continuous improvement efforts, as well as by supporting WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programs.

Pulmuone leads in waste management and resource conservation by establishing a waste recycling system. We are committed to reducing food loss and recycling waste. We measure and manage waste amounts according to the lifecycle of each food category and work actively to reduce them. Additionally, we explore ways to recycle waste into resources, adhering to stricter internal standards for food loss and waste management.

Pulmuone minimizes air, water, and soil pollutants generated during production, logistics, and sales by improving processes to reduce emissions. We manage all pollutant emissions at levels below 50% of the legal requirements, minimizing environmental impact and striving to reduce pollutant emissions in the long term.

 

■ Chemical Management

Pulmuone rigorously manages the use of chemicals throughout the entire lifecycle of its products and services to protect people and the environment. We minimize the use of chemicals to essential areas and continually work to replace harmful chemicals used in production with less hazardous alternatives.

 

■ Biodiversity Protection

Pulmuone protects and promotes biodiversity by minimizing the impact of its production and operational processes on ecosystems. We safeguard local species’ habitats and participate in projects that contribute to biodiversity. By collecting biodiversity-related data and improving environmental management, we contribute to maintaining the health and stability of ecosystems.

 

■ Green Procurement

Pulmuone practices green procurement, prioritizing environmentally friendly materials and products across the supply chain. We prioritize raw materials and products with environmental certifications and encourage suppliers to adopt environmentally friendly production and operational methods.
