ECMD, a subsidiary of Pulmuone focusing on food and life service, will be expanding its “Wholesome Foods 211 Diet Campaign” to further spread healthy dietary lifestyle.

ECMD (CEO Gwon, Hyuk-Hee) announced on September 5, 2017, that it will select 26 concession business sites in different parts of Korea to run a campaign on practicing the “Wholesome Foods 211 Diet” for 15,000 customers in a period of three months from September 5 ~ November 25.

The 211 diet-practicing campaign will commence on September 5 at Coupang’s logistic center and visit other concession venues such as Hyosung R&DB Labs, Handok Pharmaceuticals, Handok Pharmaceuticals, etc.

The campaign has been prepared to help boost people’s level of understanding and encourage the adoption of the 211 diet, which is based on the “LOHAS dietary lifestyle” that even cares for the environment.

The 211 diet is a way to apply GL (Glycemic Load) diet, which helps to cut sugar intake. It is about having a meal in a balanced manner with fresh vegetables, protein with low saturated fat, and whole grain in a ratio of 2:1:1 to prevent excessive consumption of carbohydrates.

As the diet helps to prevent excessive insulin secretion by lowering GL, lifestyle experts consider the diet to be a significant contributor in preventing metabolic syndrome, which includes chronic illnesses stemming from obesity.

At the campaign sites, ECMD will also offer many activities for more customers to get to know about the 211 diet and get engaged. For one, there will be booths for promotion and activities for people to experience the diet when the campaigns are held at the concession business sites.

At the booths, ingredients such as protein foods, whole grains, and vegetables will be displayed in recommended ratio for customers to see and easily understand the good ratio of nutrition and quantity for a healthy meal. Also, food actually cooked with the ingredients will be showcased in comparison to the food regularly offered at the concession sites for the people to understand the appropriate quantity of food in a meal. There will be ECMD employees explaining about the 211 diet as well. In addition, promotional materials on how to apply the diet will be handed out to the visitors for them to try the 211 diet at home.

Next to the exhibition, there will be a casting lot event called, “Find 211 Diet,” where people can have fun while understanding the concept of the diet, and online events will be held as well for people to participate in using their SNS. The drawing event with 100% success rate will give gifts such as “Nutritionally balanced 211 food trays,” which are easy to use at home as they are designed to hold food in recommended ratio, and Pulmuone’s fresh noodle brand products among others to the visitors on site.

Online events rewarding Pulmuone products worth KRW 50,000 will be held as well

People can join the event by posting pictures of participating at the booths along with hashtags such as #ECMD, and #211 Day Campaign on their SNS accounts. By drawing, selected people will receive “LOHAS Boxes,” consisted on various Pulmuone products.

Last year, ECMD held the “Practicing Wholesome Foods 211 Diet Campaign” for 1,500 children at community child centers, and the company also ran the campaign for people enjoying the “2016 Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival. On both occasions, there were many positive comments, so it was decided that the campaign should be held again in greater scale.

EMCD has been making known the 211 diet by designating every Wednesday as “211 Day,” in which the company shares tips on how to practice LOHAS diet and healthy lifestyle, at over 500 contracted food service sites. On the 211 day, nutritionally balanced meals designed and prepared by professional dieticians are provided, and the day has served as a great opportunity to raise awareness and appreciation on the 211 diet.

Kim, Kyung-Soon, the executive officer of ECMD Business support office described, “Since 2010, ECMD has been paying close attention to spreading healthy dietary habits to not only customers at contracted concession sites, but also to the underprivileged people in the regional society.” Mr. Kim also added that, “We hope that the 211 campaign will be the first step in shaping healthy dietary lifestyle among people, and we will continue to communicate and spread healthy diet and lifestyle in line with the aging society.”

* LOHAS: LOHAS is an acronym for “Lifestyles Of Health And Sustainability,” which refers to living a conscious lifestyle taking into consideration both health and sustainable development.
