With Chuseok holiday (Korean Thanksgiving) just around the corner, Pulmuone’s subsidiary providing living services, ECMD, carried out an outreach initiative to provide assistance to the region’s neighbors who require helping hands.

ECMD (CEO Gwon, Hyuk-Hee) cooperated with Jamsil Welfare Social Center to hold a “Sharing Love Bazaar” on September 27 in front of the social center at Jamsilbon-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, to raise funds for seniors living alone in the area.

After learning about the rise in the number of seniors living alone in small single rooms nearby, ECMD decided to have a fundraising event in partnership with the Jamsil Welfare Social Center so that the seniors would be able to enjoy Chuseok even more.

At the bazaar, 15 executives and employees of ECMD’s HQ joined the effort by volunteering. They sold items, which included clothes, general goods, books, etc. by explaining about the goods donated by people living in the area.

Also, there was a separate booth installed to promote and introduce the “211 Diet” developed by Pulmuone. The volunteers at the booth explained about how to practice the diet as well for the residents to improve their dietary lifestyle. Out of those who visited the booth and heard about the diet, 1,000 were chosen and given products from Foodmerce, a subsidiary of Pulmuone, as gifts.

All the proceeds made at the charity event that day were handed to Jamsil Welfare Social Center, and they will be used to reach out to seniors living alone in Songpa-gu.

In addition, 5,400 Pulmuone products were donated for the elderly to enjoy delicious food during the holiday. The foods included, two types of products from the fresh ramyun brand, "Saengmyeonsikgam,” (Yukgaejang, and Gomtang Chopped Noodle), two kinds of ready-made

soups (Yukgaejang, and Sagol Ugeojiguk), Pororo Kids’ Soft Tofu, Saenggadeuk Three Types of Fried Vegetables & Hamburger Steak, dried laver (traditional and lunch box type), and kimchi fried rice.

Kim, Kyung-Soon, an executive officer of ECMD explained, “We hope the elderly living alone will be able to enjoy a warm Chuseok through the efforts made at the bazaar.” He added that “EMCD will continue its endeavors to provide assistance to the underprivileged.”

The “Sharing Love Bazaar” has been served a platform for ECMD to donate the proceeds generated by selling goods which executives and employees gave, and provide wholesome foods to residents of nearby regions free of cost. For eight years since 2010, ECMD HQ at Songpa-dong, Songpa-gu has been holding bazaars on its own, or in partnership with companies such as Songpa branch Beautifulstore, and Songpa Food Market
